Types Of Shoe Polishers

How To Use An Electric Shoe Polisher
Before you start using your electric shoe polisher, you need to do about thirty seconds of debris removal from your shoes. Use a dry paper towel or a plastic bristle brush to clean stubborn stuck-on grime. You should only need to do this once because afterward, you’ll be protecting your shoes with polish and preventing additional grime buildup in the future.
- Position your shoes on something flat and stable. Either use a desk or even position them on the carpet where they will get plenty of traction. If you’re using a handheld unit, it’s best to position one shoe between your feet at a time and hold it there. If you’re using a benchtop unit, position your shoes about six inches apart.
- Apply a generous coating of shoe polish with a separate applicator. Once applied to every area of the shoe that you wish to polish, plug in or turn on your unit with the buffer head.
- For handheld units, apply gentle pressure until you feel a little bit of resistance. Be sure to consult the manual to determine how much pressure is required, and how much is too much. For benchtop units, set the height to the appropriate level so that there is a bit of traction against your shoe.
- For handheld units, apply pressure in a circular motion to the shoe until the polish begins to develop a smooth shine. For benchtop models, allow the appropriate amount of time as instructed by the manual. If you feel as though it hasn’t done a proper job when that time is up, reconsider the traction between the buff pad and your shoes.
