Our favorite table tennis shoe is the Adidas Men’s Pw Tennis Hu Sneaker. Okay, to be honest, they’re not strictly table tennis shoes, but we think they’re almost perfect for the job. They have two key features that make them the perfect ping pong shoes. The first of those features is the ultra-grippy rubber sole. Unlike a traditional rubber sole, this one has diamond-shaped inserts that provide added traction, which will help you move accurately around the table. The other feature that impressed us is the lightweight design. The low-profile mesh upper is one of the lightest materials for a sports shoe and it feels like your wearing a pair of socks.

This shoe was born out of a collaboration with singer, Pharrell Williams. The HU brand has become known for its soft and stylish hues and equality logo, which is seen all over this trainer. For more quality sports footwear, check out our selection of the best racquet shoes.

2.
Adidas Women’s Aspire Table Tennis Shoe

    Midsole cushioning

The Adidas Women’s Aspire Tennis Shoe is more of a traditional tennis shoe. It’s chunkier and more protective than the Adidas Pw Tennis Hu Sneaker, but it’s still a great option for table tennis players. The square toe and high sides provide your foot and ankle with more protection, but ultimately they make the shoe heavier. We’d recommend this trainer for someone who cares more about stability than performance. Having said that, this trainer is no slouch. It has a grippy non-marking sole that will stop you in your tracks and a cushioned midsole that gives every step energy. It’s also one of the most comfortable table tennis shoes available. The only thing we weren’t particularly impressed with is the color choice. Compared to most modern trainers, a choice of only 3 different styles seems a bit stingy to us. Our best value product was an easy choice in this list. The Butterfly 8001 Classic Table Tennis Shoes are exactly what the title would suggest – classic table tennis shoes. They don’t have any of the hi-tech features you’d expect to find on a modern trainer, but they do the simple things well. For example, they have a grippy rubber pattern that covers the entirety of the outsole, they are extremely lightweight, and they’re well-made enough to take a beating. Of course, if you’re looking for a performance trainer, this isn’t it. But, if you want a cheap and comfortable entry-level table tennis shoe, with heaps of style, it’s a great budget option. Despite its simplistic design, this shoe regularly crops up in lists of the best table tennis shoes, so it must be doing something right. This next pair of trainers is a favorite amongst female indoor tennis players. Again, they’re not strictly designed for table tennis, but because the movement of the sport is very similar, they will work perfectly. Some of the bigger brands don’t make many dedicated table tennis shoes, so many amateur and pro players have taken to wearing indoor tennis shoes. Adidas Women’s Adizero Club w Tennis Shoes are less chunky than the Adidas Women’s Aspire Tennis Shoe, so they’re more suited to players that are looking for a lightweight design. They represent the perfect middle ground between slip-on trainers and larger, more protective designs. Unfortunately, like the Adidas Women’s Aspire Tennis Shoe, they don’t come in a wide range of colors – only two this time. But, we are a big fan of the Chalk Coral color, so we’ll let them off. If you are also into running, be sure to check out our reviews of the best cross country shoes.

5.
Adidas Men’s Approach Tennis Shoe

    ADIWEAR sole

    Chunky design

    Perforations for breathability

The Adidas Men’s Approach Tennis Shoe is one of the hardest wearing tennis shoes on this list. It’s designed for outdoor tennis, but because the sole is non-marking, it can be used for indoor racket sports. The outsole on this shoe is probably its best feature – it’s an ADIWEAR outsole that is designed to be both durable and extremely grippy. This is designed to be an everyday training shoe, so it’s going to stand the test of time. The cushioned midsole also provides explosive power in every step, which means you can get around to the other side of the table quicker than ever before.

These trainers might look like they won’t be very breathable but they have a few lines of perforations in the front to let air in. For more high-quality sports footwear, check out our guide to the ultimate frisbee cleats.

6.
Daisy Flower Sneakers

Key Features

    Cotton canvas upper

    Rubber sole

    Daisy print

    Available in 1 color

Daisy Flower Sneakers are probably not the right choice if you’re entering the table tennis world championships. They’re more suited to someone that maybe plays ping pong as a hobby and wants a dedicated pair of shoes to play in. They take inspiration old-school tennis shoes, in that they have no protection around the ankle and a flat sole. This is fine if you’re playing a chilled out game of table tennis, but not if you’re going to be flying around the table. However, the most attractive feature of these shoes has to be the flower design. They only come in one color (black) but the shoe is covered with daisies, which makes them stand out. Our only concern is that the rubber sole isn’t that grippy. As we said, it should be okay for light play, but not much else. 7.
Adidas Performance Men’s Novak Pro Tennis Shoe

adidas performance men's novak pro tennis shoe
Key Features

    Synthetic leather upper

    Created for Novak Djokovic

    Adiprene & Adiprene+ technology

    Adiwear 6 outsole

    Available in 2 colors

If you hadn’t guessed, the Adidas Performance Men’s Novak Pro Tennis Shoes gets their name from the world-famous tennis player Novak Djokovic. He’s now signed with Asics, but you can still get a pair of his old shoes. Like the other tennis shoes we’ve featured, they have a synthetic upper and a rubber sole, but there are a few key differences that make these shoes perform better. Firstly, it’s synthetic leather on the top, which makes it just as lightweight but more durable than similar shoes. Secondly, they use Adidas’s Adiprene and Adiprene+ technology. This technology is used in most of Adidas’s high-performance trainers now and it works as a shock absorber. When you make a big movement to one side, the shoe will take a lot of the impact, so you can train harder for longer. 8.
Adidas Men’s Adizero Ubersonic 2 Clay Tennis Shoe

adidas men's adizero ubersonic 2 clay tennis shoe
Key Features

    Mesh upper

    Bootie construction

    Adizero technology

    Adituff abrasion protection

    Available in 1 color

Adidas Men’s Adizero Ubersonic 2 Shoes are made for clay courts, but they work just as well indoors. You will find in the Amazon reviews that many players choose these over hard-court specific shoes. The only problem is that they’re slightly softer than hard court shoes, so if you’re an aggressive player, they will wear out quicker. However, that shouldn’t be a problem with table tennis. When you’re playing on clay courts, the grip is essential, which is why these shoes have thick ridges on the rubber sole to keep you stable. They also have an abrasion-resistant design around the toes called Adituff, which protects your toes and forefoot from damage. The main reason people love these shoes is the way they feel when they’re on their feet. The bootie construction wraps around your foot and makes the shoe feel like a glove, which provides amazing agility. Butterfly is one of the most recognizable table tennis brands in the world, and this is their flagship shoe. They’re worn by amateur and professional table tennis players around the world, which means they’re suitable for any level of player. They provide something that no other shoe on this list can – the ability to slide. Sometimes, when you are moving quickly around the table, you need to be able to perform a controlled slide. The bridge-shaped middle sole allows you to do this, whilst the rest of the grip keeps you in place when you need to be. They’ve also got a B-absorber, which is a sponge that takes the shock out of heavy movements. And, B-armor, an area of protection for your forefoot. However, the best thing about these shoes is the way they look. Butterfly Lezoline Rifones Table Tennis Shoes might only be available in 1 color scheme, but they’ve fit a lot of colors into it. Table Tennis Shoe Buying Guide

How We Chose Our Selection Of Table Tennis Shoes

Brand - If you’re new to table tennis, there might be a few brands you haven’t heard of before, like Butterfly and Lezoline. We’ve done some background research and found out the brands that dominate the table tennis shoe market. Plus, we’ve included some shoes from lesser-known brands that you can sometimes find at a cheaper price.

Price - Price is important in any buying decision. If you’ve just started playing table tennis, you probably won’t be looking for the most expensive shoes on the market. However, if you’re looking to play at a competition level, you will need a shoe that can help you improve your balance and footwork.

Review - When we are writing buying guides like this one, we always check out the customer reviews on Amazon and other online marketplaces. It’s one of the best places to find honest opinions about a product. Customers, especially when they’re shopping online, are keen to tell the world what they think about a product, good or bad. We also check out other expert reviewers to see if their opinions are in line with our own.

Features To Look For In Table Tennis Shoes

Sole - The sole is one of the most important parts of a table tennis shoe. It’s generally made out of rubber and is designed to provide grip on any surface. The grip is important to table tennis players because of the quick footwork needed to navigate the table. Without that stopping power, the player could slide out and injure themselves.

Quality - Your table tennis shoes are going to take a beating, so quality is important. Look at the materials, stitching, and customer reviews to get an idea of the quality. In general, the more you spend, the higher quality shoe you will get.

Comfort - Comfort is important in any shoe, but it’s especially important in sports shoes. When you are doing strenuous activities in a shoe, it is more likely to rub on different parts of your foot. Comfort is important if you want to avoid blisters and other, more serious, issues.

Size - Buying the right shoe size is essential. If you’re not 100% sure of your size, you should get your feet professionally measured. Most footwear companies will provide a size chart to help you find the correct size.
